“Any Road Will Get You There ”
by Robert Didur, BASc, P.Eng., Calgary
Robert will present an overview of his 40+ year career in the mining business that began and ended as a geologist but encompassed a wide range of technical and management positions in a variety of physical, geological and commodity environments.
He will discuss how geology and economics knowledge and experience have played key roles throughout his career and how, along with critical out-of-the-box analytical thinking and challenging norms, resulted in significant value creation and personal satisfaction.
Highlights that will be touched on include working on one of the world’s richest ($/t) VMS deposits; discovery and development of an elephant-sized orebody in the backyard of a 35 year operation; optimization of coal and diamond mines; and discovery of a manto and vein system Ag deposit in the Kootenays.
